SIMP Interpreter Training: Preparing LAPs for Structured Intensive Multidisciplinary Program Appointments

L&I hosted this training to help Language Access Providers better understand Structured Intensive Multidisciplinary Program (SIMP) appointments and the role interpreters play in supporting injured workers participating in these programs. The training provides an overview of the SIMP evaluation, treatment, and follow-up phases; what interpreters can expect during a typical SIMP day; and the importance of consistency, confidentiality, professionalism, and responsible assignment acceptance. LAPs assigned to SIMP appointments may follow the same worker throughout the day and interpret during individual sessions, group activities, educational classes, physical and occupational therapy, and vocational services. LAPs who are interested in covering SIMP appointments are strongly encouraged to review. It also supports the preferred interpreter policy for SIMP appointments effective July 1, 2026.
